I have a studio on Prestbury Road, Macclesfield – where I teach the Alexander Technique and Pilates.

About Me

I qualified as a Pilates teacher in 2006 and in 2008 qualified as a Master Teacher.  When I started training to be an Alexander Teacher (4 years full time study and 1,600 hours minimum) I began to realise the amazing ways in which the technique runs parallel to Pilates – and the 36 exercises of the Classical Mat are a wonderful practice through which you can understand the Technique in practice.

The principles of Primary Control, breathing, mind and body connection and mental focus, whole body lengthening and widening – using ‘inhibition’ and ‘direction’ facilitate a greater ease with the more challenging exercises.  Just as in actual life, the technique makes everything better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a lesson?

The lesson is not exercise. It is gentle movement to bring about a new sense of poise and grace. The teacher will use a chair, and many of the movements will be sitting to standing. Through guidance this movement will become light and effortless. Bringing about a new sense of freedom.

How many lessons will I need ?

You may need up to twenty lessons. Or you may be happy with 6 or 8 lessons. The lessons are about changing how you think. As you improve you will discover more. The outcome can be unexpected.
